COMMITMENT TO SAFETY

Each task is reviewed prior to execution to identify hazards, required PPE, certifications, and safe work steps. Field personnel evaluate risks such as hazardous substances, fall exposure, dropped objects, and energy sources before work begins.

Work is planned with a focus on permits, certifications, access, and site-specific risks. Crews are aligned on scope, responsibilities, and safety expectations prior to execution.

JH manages high-risk activities through a structured permit-to-work system governing excavation, hot work, lockout/tagout (LOTO), and confined space entry. Each activity requires verification of conditions, hazard controls, and proper authorization before work begins.
For excavation, detailed pre-excavation checklists are used to confirm line locates, utility coordination, and safe digging practices in compliance with owner, state, and federal requirements.

JH’s safety culture is based on individual accountability and team responsibility. Personnel are expected to identify hazards, stop unsafe work, and communicate risks clearly. Safety expectations apply equally across engineering, field, and inspection roles.

Safety is incorporated into engineering, layout, and project planning decisions. Facility design considers access, constructability, maintenance, and operational safety to reduce risk during both construction and long-term operation.
