Mechanical Design

Process and Mechanical Design

From concept to field-ready deliverables, our team designs mechanical systems built for performance, efficiency and constructability.

Our Capabilities

Our mechanical team delivers structured engineering across core facility systems.

Process Design

JH’s mechanical team designs facility systems to ensure vessels, piping, control valves, and rotating equipment are properly sized for actual operating conditions. The focus is on performance, efficiency, and avoiding unnecessary oversizing that increases capital cost. All designs follow API 14C principles and are structured to support a clean transition into PHA review.

Field & Site Design

Field architecture is one of the primary drivers of total project cost, followed closely by site layout. JH develops facility layouts that support efficient development, reduce rework, and maintain long-term operability. Systems are designed to be compact, constructable, and accessible for operations and maintenance.

Piping Systems

JH designs piping systems using either client-provided specifications or internally developed standards, routing practices, and support details. The emphasis is on consistency, constructability, and long-term maintainability in field conditions. Piping layouts are developed to minimize installation issues and reduce operational risk.

Equipment Specification

JH provides sizing, material selection, and specifications for vessels, pumps, compressors, flares, and VRUs. The focus is on reliability and sustained performance across upstream and midstream applications. Experience across hundreds of equipment installations informs specifications that support consistent operation in the field and great cost performance.

3D Design

JH develops full 3D facility models to provide clear visibility into the final design before construction begins. This allows alignment across stakeholders, reduces field conflicts, and improves decision-making early in the project lifecycle. The model is also used to generate material take-offs, supporting competitive bidding for both materials and mechanical construction.
